Disturbed Italian producer Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni) battles with innovative balance as he endeavors to get another film off the ground. Overpowered by his work and individual life, the executive retreats into his contemplations, which regularly center around his loves, at various times, and every now and again meander into a fantastical area. As he attempts to sift through his numerous ensnarements, sentimental and something else, Anselmi discovers his creation turning out to be increasingly self-portraying.
